Eleanor Mondart Walker

Eleanor "Buddy" Mondart Walker passed away on January 2, 2023, at the age of 102. She was born September 26, 1920, in Magnolia, Louisiana, later known as Greenwell Springs, where she was a lifelong resident. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Eleanor graduated from the LPN program at Baton Rouge Vo Tech and worked at Baton Rouge General Hospital and Dixon Memorial Hospital for many years and really enjoyed nursing. She was fierce, courageous, strong, intelligent, compassionate, and beautiful, inside and out. She was loved by everyone who met her and became a grandmother to many. She loved her family, shopping with her sisters, and something sweet! She was extremely proud of her only son, Charles, he was the apple of her eye. He and his wife Totsie Kiper Roberts gave her 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Eleanor and her husband, Walker had the BEST times together and he adored her. They loved LSU tailgating, and she remained faithful to her Tigers. She was quite the stylish woman of her day and loved a good pair of shoes. Her hair was never out of place, and she maintained weekly hair appointments her entire life. She also loved to watch Westerns, loved to cook, loved to dance, and attend church events. She was very strong in her faith, and would never go to bed without reading her Bible and saying her prayers. She was grateful that God had given her a clear mind and a strong spirit and looked forward to one day reuniting and rejoicing with her family in heaven. When people asked her what the secret was to her long life, she said it was the advice her beloved mother had given her. She told her not to worry about anything, to help the things you could help, and leave the rest alone. It was ok to "be concerned", but better to let God take care of things, and besides that, worrying gave you wrinkles! Her mother also taught her and her three sisters to love each other all the time no matter what, and that love was the most important thing that anyone could share with you. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Wallace D. Walker, her parents, Haney Guy and Mattie Forbes Mondart, her beloved son Charles Earl Roberts, and her sisters who were her best friends and their spouses, Lou Digirolamo (Joe), Thelma Tridico Bush, and Gayle Passman (John). She is survived by her daughter-in-law Totsie Roberts, Prairieville; her four grandchildren Toni Kessler (Mark) Central; Terri Rochester (Robb) Prairieville; Mark Roberts (Niki) Memphis, TN; and Charles Micah Roberts Apex, NC; eight great-grandchildren Joshua Roberts (Heather), Brennan and Addison Rochester, Emmi and Charlie Roberts, and Ethan, Matthew, and Joey Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Eleanor was a lifelong member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in Central, where visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 10:00 am until funeral services at 12:30 pm, conducted by Rev. George Threeton and Bro David Smith. Burial to follow in the church cemetery and reception afterward in the gym. Pallbearers will be Mark Roberts, Charles Micah Roberts, Mark Kessler, Joshua Roberts, Robert "Robb" Rochester, and Dwayne Digirolamo. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
