Charles Allen Efferson

Charles Allen Efferson was born on October 19, 1961. Passed away at his home in Livingston, LA Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 2:05 a.m. He was a 1981 graduate of Walker High School. Charles was a member of the Local Union 729 & 623 and worked at Turner’s Honeywell plant. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed Hunting and fishing, especially at his camp in Mississippi. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge with his two grandkids, who he was always willing to tell a story about and share a picture, or five of them. Cooking was one of his many passions, and you could count on him to cook his award-winning pastalaya for any benefit. You could always count on Charles to lend a helping hand any and every time needed. Charles was a selfless man who always put others before himself. He was a father figure to anyone who crossed his path and an uncle to all. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Vickey McLin Efferson; son, Derek McLin, wife Katie, daughter, Jessica Holliman, husband Mykel; grandson, Jace Allen McLin, granddaughter, Mckensley “MJ” Holliman; brother Ronald Wayne Efferson, wife Glenda; sisters in law- Regina “Sukie” Webb, husband Billy, Cathy “Peb” Bennett, husband Tony Sr., and Lisa “LuLu” Parsons-Hano, husband Lee; brother-in-law Troy McLin Sr.; nephews Justin McLin, Tony Bennett Jr., Vertis “Buddy” Duplessie, Troy McLin Jr., Rusty Lawless, Cody Efferson, and Devin Efferson; nieces Heather Dominick, Brittany Dominick, Tammy Efferson, Hope Efferson, Kristina Bennett, and Courtney Baird; and aunt Marie Wascom. He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Anna Mae Efferson, Brother Daniel “Danny” Efferson, Mother and Father-in-Law Troy M. and Corine “Fred” McLin, Nephew Richard “Cole” Parsons, and great nephew Braxton Parsons. Pallbearers are Lee Wroten, Tyler Palmer, Wade Duplessie, Justin Haddad, Ross Murray, Greg Wascom, Jason Wascom, Dewitt Wascom, Randy Dufrene Sr., and Jack Pravata. Honorary pallbearers are Stacey Duplessis, Justice McLin, Bryan Parsons, and Lee Hano. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Friday, November 10, 2023, at The New Life Tabernacle Church 12012 Florida Blvd. Walker, LA 70785 from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service begins at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at McLin Cemetery behind the church. Following graveside services, there will be a gathering of friends and family at the Livingston Country Club, 29250 S Magnolia St, Livingston, LA 70754.
