Robert Lee McKenzie

February 10, 1945 - August 8, 2021

Robert L. Pulpwood McKenzie “Pepaw” a resident of Walker, Louisiana died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Baton Rouge General, Bluebonnet. He was 76 years old and a native of Sturgis, MS. Robert passed unexpectedly with his beloved wife and two children at his side. Robert valued his family above all else but was also known for his hard work ethic. Robert was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and loved family functions, gardening, hunting, fishing, cutting trees, and raising cows. Pepaw was also known to sneak in a nap if he wasn’t sneaking in snacks that he wasn’t supposed to have. Surviving Robert is his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Daniel McKenzie, also known as Grammie, and two sons, Robbie McKenzie/Janece, Ricky McKenzie/April, all of Walker, Louisiana. Survivors also include his mother, Francis McKenzie (Nanny) of Sturgis; eight siblings: James Paul/Colleen McKenzie of Euphora, MS; Valerite/Clay Burham of Columbus, MS; Elaine Fulton of Nanih Waiya, MS; Jake/Loretta McKenzie of Sturgis, MS; Bill/Jolene of Louin, MS; Press/Nora McKenzie of Walker, LA; Loy McKenzie of Sturgis, MS; and Sheila Talley of Louin, MS. One brother-in-law, John Daniel of Center, TX. Twelve grandchildren: Katelynn McKenzie/Daniel; Madison McKenzie/Ethan; Hayden McKenzie/Misty; Eli McKenzie; Dane Griffin/Cassie; Kristen Monaghand/ Mason; and Amanda Griffin. Nine great-grandchildren: Easton, Jody, Elliot, Hayleigh, Reagan, Cruz, Dani, Angelina, Ethan, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also the host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, JW McKenzie; Sister, Iyvonne Fulgham; Brother, Darrell McKenzie; Infant daughter; and great-grandson, Noah Sittig. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at Christ's Community Church in Denham Springs from 10:00am until the service begins at 12:00pm. Services will be conducted by Pastor Willis Easley and Pastor Chad Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden McKenzie, Eli McKenzie, Easton Sittig, Daniel Beadle, Ethan Schwing, Dane Griffin, Howard Daniel, Presley McKenzie, Vincent McKenzie, and Mason Monaghand. Memorial donations may be made to Anna’s Grace Foundation of Baton Rouge for emotional and financial support for families that have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.
