Richard "Butch" Glenn Moore

Richard (Butch) Glenn Moore passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the age of 77. He was a kind soul who loved his family very much. Butch loved music and was an avid record collector. He could answer any music trivia question. He loved to dance with Doris, the love of his life. They were married more than 54 years, but had dated 4 years before that. He also loved his cars, especially his 57 Chevy. He loved to read anything from the Bible to John Grisham. In January 1968, he was drafted into service and chose to serve in the Army. He was a Crew Chief/Door Gunner on a Huey Helicopter. He served a year in the Vietnam War and returned home in July, 1969, on the same day as the first moon walk. He and Doris married on November 13, 1969 and shortly after that they move to Savannah, Georgia, until he finished his time of service. He worked for the Highway department, the Ethyl Corp and then he worked and retired from LSU, where he worked in the landscape department. He then started a career as a licensed auctioneer in Louisiana and Texas, which he enjoyed very much. He was a member of the Livingston Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at The Livingston Methodist Church, 29725 S Poplar St, Livingston, LA 70754, From 9 am until services begin at 1 pm, with a graveside service to follow at H. Stafford Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Doris McLin Moore, his daughter Sonya Moore Harrell (Donnie), and his grandson Grant David Harrell. His nephews Jeff Jones (Tammy), Michael Jones (Kim), Landry Moore (Kelly) and nieces Debra Richard (Barry), and Amanda Moore. He considered his sisters and brothers in law as his blood relations. They are Lester McLin (Dee Ann), Gaylan McLin (Amy), Karen McLin, Keith McLin, Royce McLin, Faith McLin, Laurie McLin Morris (Jim) and Lisa McLin Casas (Orlando). As well as, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Father Clinton W. Moore, mother Frozine Landry Moore, son Richard (Rickey) Glenn Moore, Jr, brother Clinton Harlan Moore (Cherry), sister Jean Moore, father-in- law, Lester A McLin Sr., mother- in- law Maxie Fairburn McLin, his nephews Joey R Jones, Lester A McLin III, and Ryan B McLin. Pallbearers will be Allen Jones, Brennan Moore, Scott Kleinpeter, Alex Casas, Hayden Thigpen and John McLin. The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice of Covington, especially Ryan, Cari and Chris. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice of Covington.
