Evelyn Ruth Erwin

Evelyn Ruth (Tyler) Erwin, born on March 30, 1934, went to her eternal home on April 14, 2023, at the beautiful age of 89. She has now joined in heaven, her husband of 551/2 years, James "Alton" Erwin; her two sons, James Alton Erwin "Jr" and Harold Keith Erwin; her grandson James "Anthony" Baggett; and her great-granddaughter Blaire Mickenzie King. She is survived by her 3 children, Cecile Miley and husband Curtis Miley, Michael Erwin and wife Tonya Erwin, and Dallis Erwin; her nine grandchildren, Amy Blount, Harold "Keith" Erwin, Laney Miley, Landon Miley, Brooklin Page, Chad Erwin, Mikayla Erwin, Darlene Chenier, and Brigette Erwin; her 16 great-grandchildren, Alaina and Aaron Blount, Candice Geautreaux, Lane, Destiny, and Tristen Biggs, Hayden and Levi Chenier, Melanie and Maven Erwin, Stella King, Michael and Alex Baggett, Elizabeth Lewis, Paige Knight, and Hunter Mitchell. She also had 3 great-great-grandchildren, Zeb, Bradley, and Dakota. Evelyn spent 18 years working in the Denham Springs High School cafeteria where she made many lifelong friends. She loved to work in her flower garden. You could never go wrong showing up with new flowers. They always put a smile on her face. If you ever visited Evelyn, you've sat in the kitchen where most conversations happened throughout the years. Where coffee was served and bundt cake happened to always be available. Where she always treated everyone with love and compassion. Her smile and laugh could light up the room. Her talks would warm your heart and leave you ready for the next visit. Evelyn loved spending time with her family. Everything from birthdays, holidays, vacations, and stopping by for visits. She never missed a moment to spend time with the people she adored. Evelyn's amazing, caring, and loving kindred spirit will always be cherished and missed. Evelyn and Alton had 55 great years together. Together, they made the house he built for them a home. The love and respect between the two of them is what true love really is based upon. You could always find them having their morning coffee together before the day started and then again once the day was over. Now, they are back together to spend eternity side by side. Losing a mama, mawmaw, or any woman you call family or a friend who has held a special place in your heart like Evelyn has, is never easy. The idea of life without her seems like a life not worth living. Yet, it is her strength in life that she has passed on to us through death that will keep us going. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to show your love and respect for this great woman, at New Bethlehem Baptist Church on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 2:30 pm until the funeral service begins at 5:00 pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
