Addison Elizabeth Turner

Addison Elizabeth Turner, also known as, “Daddy Addy,” was born on July 29, 2008, and left us on August 13, 2022. She is survived by her mom and dad, Andrea and Willie Turner, her sister and brother, Ava and Wyatt, her maternal grandparents, Freda and Wilfred Guidry, her paternal grandmother, Sheila “Cucu” Nichols. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Randy and Wilfreda “Mimi” Niederhofer, Janelle “Nana” Williams, Matthew “Parrain” and Leah Guidry, Angela Swindle and Jack Lavergne, Rhonda and David McLaughlin, Chance “Bull” and Danielle Turner, and Sean Turner. She also had numerous cousins, some like siblings, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Gage and Mary Grace Williams, Emmeline, Parker, Seth and Lily Niederhofer, Colt and Cimber Turner, Max and Mandy Turner, Lillie Jackson and Kyleigh, Kole and Khloe Williams. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John E. Turner, her cousin, Dustin Hartley, her uncle, Bobby Swindle, Jr, and all her great grandparents. Addison attended Mass weekly with her family at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She just started ninth grade at Walker High School where she was on the Lady Cats basketball team. She had a 4.0 and was destined for a bright future. She started playing basketball at eight years old with Walker Parks and Recreation and then played for the North Corbin Junior High Lady Bears from 6th-8th grade. Her Coach for all 3 years, Megan Almand, and in 8th grade, Jessica Nesom, helped shape her to become the ball player she was… with lots of practice. Addison lived for basketball, and you rarely caught her without a basketball in her hands. She also played AAU basketball for LA Fusion under coaches Silas Lee and Mike Watts where her skills greatly improved. She loved a variety of music and taught herself to play the keyboard and guitar. She loved traveling and most recently got to visit New England, where she planned to move to Boston someday. When she had free time from basketball practice, she loved talking to her best friends, Nat, Lily, Mia, Larkyn and Nicole. She loved being outdoors skateboarding, hiking, fishing, swimming, riding her BMX bike… the girl loved to do it all. She had a natural gift of making people laugh with her dry, sarcastic sense of humor. She always tried to make others feel included. She was the light of her momma’s eyes, or as she liked to call her, “my emo birth giver,” and loved telling her the latest teenage drama going on or asking for a new pair of shoes (that she always managed to convince her mom, or Maw Maw Freda, she needed). She was her dad’s late night gym partner, and basketball opponent at home, and received her funny sense of humor from her father. Her brother Wyatt looked up to her and would let you know she was the best basketball player there was. Her, “Sissy Ava,” was her best friend and thought the absolute world of her. She believed Addison was the strongest, most confident person she had ever met. They both miss their sissy more than words can express and would give anything to have her back. Addison has a Quaker parrot, "Venus," two German Shepherds, "Ratchet" and "Savage", a black cat, "Nyla" and two mixed Siamese kittens she shared with Ava, "Roombus" and "Iris," or as Addison called her, “Burnt Hotdog." Her parents would like to clarify that Addison did not suffer from long-term depression or thoughts of suicide. Addison was an extremely smart, confident, beautiful, talented and hilarious young woman. Her family was very close and spent time daily together. Words cannot express the relationship she has with her mom, dad, siblings, and all her extended family. Addison, nor her siblings, ever caused problems, at home or school. Addison had a personality that could light up an entire room, mostly from laughter because her sense of humor was unlike any others. She needed the kind of "peace that surpasses all understanding" and she got that in the arms of Jesus, and our Blessed Mother. “Mmk pal.” - Addison Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, LA, Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Faith Crossing UMC (formerly Friendship UMC) Pallbearers will be Addison’s uncles, Matthew Guidry, Chance “Bull” Turner, cousin Dylan Williams, and her Padre’s work husbands, Brandon Blust, Scott Johnson, and Jace Ducote. Honorary pallbearers are her cousins, Colt Turner and Dustin Hartley. Following graveside services, there will be a reception at Life Church. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude for the donations, calls/texts, and prayers.
